Female Infertility has been a prevalent problem since years and the causal reasons for the same keep changing according to time and environment. While there are several expensive treatments available to aid female infertility, Ayurveda is the most established and time-tested mode of treatment.

Let us First Know the Common Causes of Female Infertility:

#1 – PCOS:

PCOS is the leading cause of infertility in women. This condition develops when the ovaries produce excessive amounts of testosterone, known as the male hormone. This lowers the levels of female follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and leads to the inhibition of the ovarian follicles from releasing a mature egg.

#2 – Tubal Blockages:

Damaged fallopian tubules can block the eggs from passing into the uterus and prevent sperm from reaching the egg. While there are typically no symptoms for the same except infertility, repeated or severe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is one of the most common causes of tubal blockages that lead to female infertility.

#3 – Endometriosis:

Endometriosis is the cause of infertility in about 30% of women, it is a non-cancerous condition wherein the cells of the uterine lining known as endometrium also grow on the ovaries or other areas. These cysts can prevent release of an egg and when formed in the fallopian tubes, these cysts can block the passage of an egg.

#4 – Poor Egg Condition:

Eggs become damaged or develop chromosomal abnormalities that cannot sustain pregnancy. This problem is usually related to aging as the quality of egg declines significantly in the late 30’s and early 40’s. At this stage only few eggs remain and the fitness of these eggs diminishes. Moreover, even the ability of the ovaries to release eggs is reduced.

#5 – Ovulation Problems:

Ovulation problems are caused by conditions such as Hyperprolactinemia which can prevent the release of a mature egg from the ovary. This occurs when the hormone prolactin, generated by the pituitary gland in order to stimulate breast milk production, starts being produced in excessive amounts. This releases gonadotropin hormones and thus results in inhibition of ovulation.
