What is Women's Wellness

Menstruation is a natural part of a woman’s biological journey and an integral part of her reproductive cycle. The modern woman’s increased stress levels, multidimensional responsibilities and a sedentary lifestyle often leads to disturbances in hormonal balance. These imbalances give rise to menstrual disorders like PCOS (Ovarian cysts), Oligomenorrhea (irregular and light menstruation), Amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), Leucorrhoea (white discharge) etc. Women’s Wellness, in this context, refers to ayurvedic treatment of conditions that affect a woman’s monthly rhythm, thereby impacting her physical and emotional well-being.

Factors that can affect women's monthly Rhythm

Some factors that can cause hormonal imbalances in the female body are as below:

Excess Insulin

Insulin resistance by the body cells might increase androgen production, causing difficulty with ovulation.

Low-grade inflammation

Research has shown that women with PCOS have a type of low-grade inflammation that stimulates polycystic ovaries to produce androgens, which can lead to heart and blood vessel problems.

Heredity

Research suggests that certain genes might be linked to PCOS and other hormonal conditions in females.

Excess androgen

The ovaries produce abnormally high levels of androgen, resulting in hirsutism and acne.

Endometriosis

A condition in which the tissue lining the uterus (the endometrium) is found outside of the uterus. Because these pieces of tissue bleed during your period, they can cause swelling, scarring and pain.

Adenomyosis

A condition where the lining of the uterus grows into the muscle of the uterus. This condition can cause the uterus to get much bigger than it should be, along with abnormal bleeding and pain.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

An infection caused by bacteria that starts in the uterus and can spread to other reproductive organs

Fibroids (benign tumors)

Growths on the inside, outside or in the walls of the uterus

Cervical stenosis

Narrowing of the cervix, or the opening to the uterus.

Infections in the reproductive organs
